SEASON ONE OVERVIEW
This Season…
Season one follows our main characters (Tony, Richard, and Mel) as they fight their insecurities and chase down their most ambitious goals, all while traveling the country and meeting a wide variety of hot dog vendors and connoisseurs, played by a rotating cast of celebrity guests.
For Tony, he feels pushed aside by the elusive Studio who has forced a new co-host onto his show and refused to spring for a new production van or better time slot despite American Wiener’s long standing relationship with the network. Richard, now shoved into the spotlight with all eyes on him, squirms in discomfort with imposter syndrome. He is constantly worried everyone will hate him, that he will say something dumb that lands him on a meme, and that his past and upbringing will lose him every shred of credibility he has worked his entire career to build. And then, there’s Mel, who has always hid behind her work and success as a detail-oriented, talent wrangling, quality producer. She doesn’t mind the traveling and long hours because, frankly, she doesn’t have anyone who misses her. When she meets Richard in person, she feels a connection unlike she’s felt with anyone (except maybe her first Cat, Rocky, who had human eyes, but was ultimately still a cat.) When the Studio offers her a job on a new project, she struggles with making a smart career choice and sticking with her American Wiener family.
- Will Tony *finally* get a meeting with the network?
- Will Richard be able to overcome the demons of his past?
- Will Mel realize she’s more than her work and her cats?
